Bricks

The Bricklayer
The Maker of Bricks
Which I use to build the walls
In which I imprison myself
Against which I smash my face time and again

Only you can tear them down
And build new walls
Which grant me freedom
And protect me from my fears

Only you can lay down flat, dry pathways
And even safe bridges
Across the muck and mire I live in
If I would but trudge them
Towards that happy destiny
That you have prepared for me
